The sudden cardiac death is one of the most often causes of death in Germany with appr. 100.000 victims annually. A defibrillator, combined with a cardiac massage can save lives in this case. The target of the Björn Steiger Stiftung therefore is to install as many defibrillators for ordinary persons as possible in public and strongly frequented places and this with the support of sponsors.
The AED appliances (automatic external defibrillator) are self-explanatory with audible indicators and are then activated automatically if necessary. An ordinary person cannot make any mistake.
Appr. 150 AED stations are planned to be installed area-wide with the project „Heart-safe district“. 29 appliances are already installed.
